Programs & Opportunities

Connecting students and employers through career-focused programs, mentorship, and real-world opportunities.

High School Students

High School Data Scholars will focus on career exploration, skill building, and college readiness. Themed skill paths and enrichment activities will compliment Scholars’ internship projects, while industry professionals and faculty from Alabama colleges and universities will spark discussion and inspire academic next steps.

Scholars will have the opportunity to advance their skills in the areas of advanced data visualization and storytelling, statistical analysis and decision making, and ethical data and AI stewardship. Hands-on workshops will cover the basics of Excel, SQL, Python, prompt engineering, AI agents, and more.

Scholars are expected to commit a minimum of 10 hours per week to their internship assignment and an additional 5-10 per week to skills training and other program activities. On-site, hybrid, and virtual internship opportunities are available with employers across the state. The program can be completed 100% virtually and students in all parts of Alabama are encouraged to apply.

High School Scholars will receive a $1,200 stipend upon successful program completion.

Eligibility

  • Enrolled in any Alabama high school
    • We welcome applications from public, private, virtual, and home school students
  • 16 years of age or older by June 1, 2026  (Signed parental consent is required if under 18 )
  • Employers will see your QuantHub skills alongside your internship application, so earning certificates will help you standout.
    • First, create an internship application at the link below, then you will gain free access to QuantHub through the internship application portal. You may also access QuantHub through your school.
  • When selecting internship candidates, participating employers will also consider applicants’ career interests, academic performance, extracurricular involvement, and desire to lead and innovate in Alabama 

All Alabama high school students are encouraged to apply. Regardless of your prior experience, skill level, or career interest, data and AI skills are increasingly important in every job field!

Leverage your skills to tackle real business problems as an undergraduate Data Scholar. Professional development, guest speakers, and networking opportunities will equip Alabama’s emerging data leaders with the technical skillset and confidence to drive business innovation and uncover new insights.
Scholars will have the opportunity to advance their skills in the areas of advanced data visualization and storytelling, statistical analysis and decision making, and ethical data and AI stewardship. Undergraduate Scholars will receive a $2,400 stipend upon successful program completion.

Eligibility

  • Currently enrolled or a recent graduate of an undergraduate (bachelors or associates) program at an accredited Alabama college or university

  • Students in any major are welcome and encouraged to apply.

Mentor a Scholar

We are seeking employers to sponsor or host Data Scholars in short, project-based internships. Participating employers will mentor some of the brightest students in the state as they contribute to real-world projects related to data analytics, data science, and AI. Employers in any industry are welcome to participate and funding is available to help offset the cost of participation.

During his internship at Tquila Automation, rising junior Kingston created an AI-powered recruitment chatbot, gaining valuable skills in automation, data analytics, and engineering.

Irene

Recent high school graduate Irene balanced two internships while gaining hands-on experience in data and cybersecurity at BBT Connects, where she set up security cameras and enhanced data visualization systems.

Mang

As a rising high school junior, Mang interned at EBSCO. He enhanced EBSCO’s credentialing system, adding over 1,500 skills and 32 new credentials while creatively applying his coding skills to streamline tasks.

Calvin

A homeschooling senior, Calvin interned at Alabama Capital Network, where he aided with a database migration, saving the organization $2,500 annually while honing his data management and communication skills.

We have been able to form an understanding of tools and frameworks used by ML / AI developers, gained invaluable insight as to how models are trained, explored regression and classification applications of ML / AI, and built a GPU powered testbed server.
