QuantHub Achieves ESSA Level III Certification, Demonstrating Measurable Impact on Learning Outcomes

QuantHub is proud to announce that our Upskill platform has achieved ESSA Level III certification — validating that our data literacy programs measurably improve student outcomes and career readiness. This recognition underscores our mission: empowering the next generation with the data and AI fluency skills needed to thrive in an increasingly data-driven world.

Between December 2024 and July 2025, students participated in QuantHub’s Alabama Data Scholars Internship Program, funded in part by an Innovate Alabama grant. The program combined career exploration, skill-building, and college readiness, using the QuantHub Upskill platform to teach data literacy and AI-related skills to students from grades 6–12 and college.

Measurable Learning Impact

The research, conducted by Instructure’s EdTech Collective, examined how student use of QuantHub Upskill correlated with improvements in:

  • College and career readiness
  • Engagement with data science
  • Perceived value of data literacy
  • Familiarity with specific tools and skills (like machine learning and algorithms)

Boosting Confidence for Data-Driven Futures

This research was conducted through a method of analyzing a group of students’ performance in the QuantHub Upskill platform, and surveying the students before and after completing the curriculum. The survey questions promoted students to rate their interest in topics on a scale of 1-5, and answer familiarity level with data concepts and key industry tools.

Students reported positive growth across all areas:

  • Career confidence – better clarity about post-high school plans and data-related careers
  • Engagement – increased interest in using and communicating with data
  • Value perception – stronger belief that data literacy is useful in everyday life and for professionals
  • Skills familiarity – greater comfort with AI, data visualization, and analysis tools

Impact on Student Interest in Data Literacy

Students who mastered more skills on QuantHub Upskill are:

    • Significantly more likely to be interested in learning data analysis
    • More likely to believe that data literacy is useful to professionals
    • More likely to feel familiar with machine learning, large language models (LLMs), neural networks, and algorithms

These correlations were statistically significant, satisfying the standards for ESSA Level III: Promising Evidence. The study used valid statistical methods to show a positive correlation between a program (QuantHub Upskill) and meaningful outcomes. This level qualifies QuantHub’s platform for federal funding under ESSA for schools and districts seeking evidence-based programs.

The Usage Metrics included in the study noted the following averages of time the students spent on the application, as well as performance metrics within the application: (per student)

      • Average 3 weeks of use on the platform
      • Average 178 minutes of total engagement
      • Average 281 questions answered
      • 11 skills mastered
      • 6,330 neurons (QuantHub’s gamified learning points)
      • 1 certificate earned on average

What does this mean for QuantHub?

This recognition confirms that QuantHub Upskill effectively builds real-world data literacy and STEM readiness — not just through engagement metrics, but through empirical evidence showing improved student outcomes.

      Expanding Access Through ESSA Certification
