I’m Hannah, a rising junior at Auburn High School. I love long-distance running, playing the piano, and drawing, and I hope to pursue a degree in Biomedical Sciences after graduation. This summer, through the Alabama Data Scholars program, I interned with Knowbra and QuantHub, where I combined my interests in learning and technology to create something that could truly make a difference.
My project focused on building a directory of survivor resources. I organized more than 100 local and national resources in Airtable, creating filters for service type, state, and accessibility. I also designed a digital support finder using Typeform, which made it easier for people to connect with the help they need. To extend this work into the future, I helped set the stage for an AI chatbot that could make support even more accessible.
Through this internship, I was introduced to tools like Airtable, Typeform, and different AI copilots. More importantly, I learned that data and technology can empower people in difficult times, showing me how my skills can translate into real-world impact.
“This experience taught me that data and tech can empower people in difficult times.”
I’m deeply grateful to Brittney Gray, DeCarri Wells, Kelsey Bickett, and the entire Alabama Data Scholars team for their mentorship and encouragement. This internship gave me a deeper understanding of data science, and it inspired me to see how my future in science and technology can help others.
