Desmond R. Parker, Ph.D., is a graduate of the historic Talladega College and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He currently serves as department chair at Leeds High School, where he has taught a wide range of courses including General Chemistry, Pre-AP Chemistry, AP Chemistry, Physics, Physical Science, Biology, and Earth and Space Science. In addition to his work in K–12 education, he has also taught undergraduate and graduate-level courses for the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Department of Education.
Dr. Parker also serves as a Junior Data Ambassador with QuantHub, where he is a member of the Grants Committee, supporting partnership development and assisting schools with grant-funded projects. Outside of education, he works as a lead pyrotechnician with Pyro Shows of Alabama, specializing in aerial and close-proximity fireworks displays. When he’s not in the classroom or coordinating fireworks, he enjoys playing the piano and pipe organ.
